Transforming a 1920s Historic Landmark into a State-of-the-Art Aviation Laboratory

Building 19 at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB) has a rich history, which includes Orville Wright’s participation in the commissioning of one of the world’s most powerful and efficient wind tunnels. The decision to rehabilitate Building 19 into a laboratory, shows both the commitment to Wright-Patt’s legacy in aviation research, as well as the leadership to prepare for future innovations. West Chester Fire Station: Rebuild Recommended

Our Civic Leader and project manager, Tim Wiley, recommends that West Chester's original space be razed and a new, larger station built on site. When making the decision to renovate or build, Wiley explained, “the numbers [were] so close that the advantages of new construction totally outweighed the renovation option.”

Cincinnati Magazine Highlight's Cincinnati's 2030 District

Check out Cincinnati Magazine’s article on our Cincinnati 2030 District! It provides a great overview of the formation of the district and interviews some of the early, local voices of the district. “When Ed Mazria, one of America’s most notable architects, presented data more than a decade ago showing that roughly 50 percent of a city’s greenhouse gas emissions come from buildings, not cars, buses, and trucks, well, the architectural world was turned upside down. ‘We are trained as architects to make our buildings a better place for the health and the safety of their occupants,’ notes Chad Edwards, a principal at emersion DESIGN. ‘So Ed’s presentation sent shock waves through our industry. We realized we had to fix this.’”

According to Kenton County Judge-executive, Kris Knochelmann, the cooperation with Transitions, Inc. and Project 180 is the way to make Northern Kentucky "one of the healthiest communities in the country... We value life, the lives of addicted, the lives of pregnant moms, the lives of men who are ready to change their lives and their success is dependent upon us working together. Cincinnati Art Museum's Schmidlapp Gallery Wins Cincinnati Design Award

Cincinnati Art Museum's Schmidlapp Gallery won a Cincinnati Design Award for it's interior architecture! The museum's Director, Cameron Kitchin, shares his thoughts on the renovation: “This project has been in the making since 1907. The new Schmidlapp Gallery borrows from the best of our installations over time. It is a rethinking of not just the design, but the purpose of the space—why it exists in the architecture of the building and the pathway of the visitor experience.” Thank you to all who helped make this project so successful!

Ohio History Connection - Chatfield College

A local, mission driven, higher education institution - which is focused on serving the inner city population - is participating in the Ohio History Connection's (formerly the Ohio Historical Society) Open Doors project. Stop by Chatfield College's Over-the-Rhine campus from 9-11am on Saturday, September 15th to learn more about the history of the building.
