Bethany School Campus Master Plan

Before building ideation or construction emersion DESIGN created a building Master Plan. The team decided on the placement and phasing requirements for a new grades 3-8 building, K-2 building, natural playscape, cafeteria, and administrative space.
The same reasons this campus is beloved by so many also made this campus a challenge to build on. The topography is varied and a majority of flat parcels were already developed. The new buildings are sympathetic to the grade, resulting in the staggard appearance of the 3-8 classroom building and sloped playscape area.

The final Master Plan for Bethany School capitalizes on the existing assets while positioning the school and campus for decades to come. The overall plan retains the campus-like feel.
The buildings preserve the homey atmosphere that was treasured when classes took place in residential cottages. Larger classrooms supported by flex areas, appropriate technology, and operable walls elevate Bethany School's ability to teach today’s learners. A consolidation of academic core buildings from five to two enhances security. Engagement with nature throughout the day continues to be supported as children travel to different buildings, via natural outdoor pathways for specials, like art, music, PE, and lunch.
