The City of Covington commissioned emersion DESIGN to develop concepts to revitalize three downtown alleys into safer, more attractive, pedestrian-friendly connections between key destinations. While maintaining limited vehicular access for deliveries and parking, the designs reimagine these corridors as vibrant public spaces that celebrate the unique character, history, and future of their surrounding neighborhoods. Through stakeholder engagement and visioning sessions, emersion DESIGN created conceptual plans for Innovation Alley, Tobacco Alley, and Legacy Way, each tailored to its specific context. Renaissance Covington led the lighting concepts and executed the mural for Innovation Alley. Other proposed improvements include enhanced paving, specialty lighting, public art, wayfinding, and safety features. The concepts serve as a framework for future alley transformations as funding becomes available, helping establish a model for continued investment in Covington’s downtown pedestrian network.
